responsible wind development in Pennsylvania

Installation Manual and Specifications (photos and more info)

We have gathered 12 months of wind data using a 50-meter meteorological tower at several sites around Pennsylvania.  We also have reference sites for each of our assessment sites and access to their data (available upon request).  We know this data is valuable both for project development on-site and also for validation and correlation purposes for other wind projects in the region - and for other research purposes.  Be assured that our data analysis and management process was created, and we were trained by, some of the top meteorologists in the wind energy business.

Please note:  this site makes our raw wind data available for research and wind resource validation purposes only and NOT with the goal of seeking wind developers for these sites.  The Community Wind Project links landowners with community wind developers through a competitive bidding process usually held once a year.  Per the Non-Disclosure Agreement below, you are not permitted to utilize this raw wind data to contact the landowner and work directly with the landowner or adjacent landowners in any way.

Steps to Obtain Raw Wind Data Files
In order to obtain our proprietary Raw Wind Data files (RWD), you must follow three simple steps:  (1) complete the following Data Request Form and select which sites you are interested in obtaining data from (See Wind Assessment Map Below
), (2) complete and sign our Mutual Non-Disclosure Agreement and (3) we encourage you to support this service through making a donation to the Center.  Finally, the wind data will be emailed to you as a URL.

Payment/Donation
Finding locations, collecting, analyzing, and logging wind data is time-consuming, tedious, and expensive.  We are a small organization but take great care in our data analysis and management process.  We hope our wind data can help accelerate the growth of responsible wind development in Pennsylvania.  We hope your organization is aided by having access to this data and if so, that you'd support our work.  However, currently no payment is required to receive our raw wind data.
Click here and support more quality wind data collection in Pennsylvania (
be sure to type "Renewable Energy Center" into the box).

We recommend these levels: For-Profit (over 50 employees) $500 - $1000 per site
