Undergraduate Research Opportunities | Mathematics majors at Saint Francis University have various opportunities to engage in research. The faculty members from the Mathematics department mentor students in several areas of mathematics including both pure and applied mathematics. There are opportunities to engage in research during the summer as well as during the school year. Research is a wonderful academic experience and also serves as preparation for graduate school or work in industry.
The most recent reseach project entitled "An Invariant of Metric Spaces under Bornologous Equilvances" was conducted by Brittany Miller, Julie Moore, and Laura Stibich under the direction of Dr. Brendon LaBuz, Assistant Professor from the Mathematics department at Saint Francis University.
Laura Stibich, Julie Moore, and Brittany Miller along with mentor, Dr. Brendon LaBuz, present their research findings during the Fifth Annual Summer Science Undergraduate Research Symposium.

Brittany, Julie, and Laura worked on their project during the summer of 2010. They investigated the concept of bornologous equilvance between metric spaces. Their poster was displayed during the Fifth Annual Summer Science Undergraduate Research Poster Symposium on August 26, 2010.
A summary article has been submitted to Spectrum, the undergraduate research journal at Saint Francis University. A full article outlining their research has been published in the Mathematics Exchange, a journal for undergraduate research in the mathematical sciences.
