The Renewable Energy Center Annemometer Loan Program measures wind resource. Please contact us for more information.
See our Wind Power Classes page.
Note: All wind mapping is an approximated value calculated through complex formulas and correlations. In order to make a proper site assessment it is necessary to collect a full year of on site data using a meterological data tower provided by the Renewable Energy Center. All maps are created using DeLorme XMap GIS Editor software using wind data originally generated for Pennsylvania by AWS Truewind, an engineering and meteorological consulting firm based in Albany, New York. Wondering how wind maps are created? After you have checked your wind resource on our maps, take a look at the financial feasibility of some possible small wind projects for your Wind Power Class using our Small Wind Estimator series. This series was created to show possible payback periods for different small wind turbines at sites with specific qualities of wind resources.
