Saint Francis Hosting Statistics Poster Competition for Pennsylvania Students
A statistics poster competition is now open for all school-aged students in the state of Pennsylvania. A statistics poster is a display containing graphs that summarize data, provide different points of view, and answer a question (or questions) about the data. All Pennsylvania students in grades Kindergarten through senior high school are eligible. Monetary prizes are awarded for first through fourth places in each of the four grade level categories of K-3, 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12. Students may work individually or in teams. If you know any school-aged students, please encourage them to develop a poster; also, please share this information with school teachers and school administrators. The deadline for registration and submission of posters is February 26, 2010. Judging will take place in March 2010 and winners will be announced by April 15, 2010; winning posters will also be submitted to the national competition.
Saint Francis University Science Outreach Center coordinates the Pennsylvania Statistics Poster Competition. Additional details about the competition, copies of the winning posters from previous years, and the registration form can be found on the Science Outreach Center home page www.francis.edu/soc or www.francis.edu/paposter.html. Questions may be directed to the Science Outreach Center at scienceoutreach@francis.edu or 814-472-3878.
