Saint Francis University SIFE Team Awarded HSBC Financial Literacy Grant
The Saint Francis University chapter of Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) was awarded a 2010 HSBC Financial Literacy Grant. The grant amount of $750 will be utilized by the Saint Francis University SIFE team to conduct a personal financial literacy education program using the social networking tool, Twitter. The goal of the project is to increase the financial literacy of high school students throughout the state of Pennsylvania. This is the third time that Saint Francis has been awarded a HSBC Financial Literacy Grant. The Saint Francis University SIFE team’s grant proposal was among those selected from over 400 applications from 29 countries.
About the HSBC Financial Literacy Programme
Globally, the HSBC Financial Literacy Programme seeks to improve the financial literacy of young people, aged 16 to 25, and to develop the financial skills of women entrepreneurs as part of assisting them more generally to become financially independent.
About SIFE
Founded in 1975, Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) has grown to become one of the largest collegiate organizations in the world. SIFE Teams are active on more than 1,700 college and university campuses in 42 countries around the world. In the United States, approximately 900 schools are enrolled in SIFE. Working together as a team, and through the mentoring of a faculty advisor(s), SIFE students apply their classroom experiences to develop and implement educational outreach programs that teach individuals in their communities the principles of market economics, entrepreneurship, personal financial success and business ethics.
