- Class Schedule - Classes are scheduled in the evenings and occasionally on weekends to accommodate students who work full-time and need to attend classes on a part-time basis.
- Semesters Start Dates - Fall (last week of August), Spring (mid-January), and Summer (early to mid-May)
- Degree Requirements - You will complete eleven courses (33 credit hours) - nine required courses and two electives. Students must maintain a grade point average of 3.0 throughout the program and have five years to complete the program. Students are also required to sit for the PHR or SPHR Certification Exam as a graduation requirement.
- Curriculum and Course Description
- PHR/SPHR Certification Exam - Students must register to sit for either the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) examination by their last semester. Students must submit a copy of the verification of eligibility to sit for the exam, received from the HR Certification Institute, to the Graduate School of HRM/IR. This is part of the graduation requirement. The examination is administered by the HR Certification Institute, an affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). The exam is offered in Pittsburgh and in Harrisburg. Students who plan to graduate and currently hold valid SPHR/PHR Certification must provide written verification to be exempt from the exam requirement.
