Franciscan Young Adults—This group hopes to help Saint Francis students know more about St. Francis and bring his ideals to our university and have a good time while doing it.
St. Francis Peace Club— Members are active in participating and sponsoring films, speakers, marches and even a Peace Fair.
Chapel Choirs— Do you love to sing or play an instrument? Come join one or more of the three Chapel Choirs. The 4:30 pm Saturday choir comprises of contemporary and traditional music, the 10:00 am Sunday choir comprises of contemporary and modern contemporary music, and the 9:00 pm Sunday choir comprises of modern contemporary music with some contemporary music.
Liturgical Ministries— Lectors, extra-ordinary Eucharistic ministers, ushers, and sacristans in addition to helping with various choirs are areas of service just waiting for your talents. Why not place your gifts at the service of our Lord. Contact Fr. Jack if you are interested in helping.
Alpha Course --The ABC’s of Christianity--- Join Brother Chris for this 10 week course. Presented are some basic teachings of the Christian faith. Students meet at 5:30 pm on Mondays where they enjoy a meal, followed by a presentation, via video and followed up by discussion . The environment is very friendly and non-threatening and allows one to embrace the Christian faith of one’s choice after answering various basics about who Jesus was, who God is, and how that plays out in today’s present life. With all the confusing messages, this course can clear up a lot of misconceptions. Hope to see you.
RCIA--Join Fr. Kevin and fellow students. This is a ministry which prepares students and others who are interested in learning more about the Catholic faith or in becoming Catholic. Meetings are generally once a week on Sunday evenings. Those who have many questions on the Catholic faith or wish to look into becoming Catholic are invited to join RCIA!
Thursday Night Theology-- This course with Fr. Jack is open to any student who would like to know more about the basic tenets and foundations of Catholicism. It serves those with no church affiliation who are searching for faith, Catholics who seek a stronger faith, and non-Catholics who want to know more.
Sacramental Preparation--Have you forgotten how to go to Confession? Do you have questions about the Holy Eucharist? Would you like to receive Confirmation? Are you thinking about getting married? Are you considering a religious vocation: a Priest, Brother, or Sister? Come visit us down in Campus Ministry or give us a call. We’re here for you and will happily try to meet your needs.
Bible Studies
Adult Bible Study—offered by Fr. Jack to faculty, administration and staff
Catholic Bible Study—offered by Fr. Dominic to delve with some depth into
selected books.
Campus Crusade—Weekly evangelistic outreach with Christian fellowship.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes—offered by Br. Michael Tinker includes scripture, sharing and various activities with the purpose of connecting the gospel of Christ to athletics and everyday life.
Pax Christi—Social activism group to promote peace and human rights led by Fr. Kevin Queally, T.O.R.
F.I.R.E.starters— Confirmation is conferred in this Diocese at the close of one’s Junior year of High School. Three retreats are attended in preparation. SFU’s FIREstarters host some of these retreats by performing skits, giving testimonies, heading small group discussions, and using their musical skills to make this a retreat that leaves participants on FIRE with a love for God. Come join us.
SFU’s Traveling Troubadours—Do you enjoy playing an instrument, singing, reciting poetry, telling short stories, or even performing small skits? If yes, you might want to consider joining this group that uses these wonderful talents and shares them with the elderly in the local area. Monthly performances are given at the Franciscan Friary, John Paul II Manor, Laurel Crest and others.
Francis for Men--This program looks at St. Francis and helps men realize the common struggles all men face. With Francis as a guide, Fr. Jack will apply Francis’ example, Scripture and one’s masculinity to consider how to rise up to the challenges of today. Great time for fellowship and support.
Clare for Women--This program looks at St. Clare and the gift of womanhood. In the light of St. Clare, Sr. Jacinta approaches various challenges that face women today.
Campus Peer Ministry Program—A program in which students minister to their peers at SFU. Peer ministers are proactive in witnessing the Gospel values.
Sunday Night Social--Most Sundays, after the 9:00 pm Mass, desserts or snacks will be offered. All students are invited. Fr. Jack, Campus Ministers and members of our Peer Ministers Program will provide this hospitality. Be sure to join us as you prepare to plunge into another week of studies.
Enjoy a Movie--Located in the Campus Ministry Center is digital projector which allows you to enjoy TV/DVD/VCR on a large wall screen while sitting back on some comfortable soft sofa chairs. Keep an eye out for Movie nights.
Night of Worship—A night of song and worship
Students for Life--The Students for Life group seeks to stimulate the University community into positive action concerning all life issues and supports any non-violent humanitarian and pro-life organizations. We desire to reestablish respect for all human life, starting at conception and ending with natural death, by planning and implementing activities that exemplify love, compassion and help to educate others of the Catholic Church's teaching on these issues.
We are a recognized group of the Student Government Association at Saint Francis University. Membership is open to all students, faculty, and staff of Saint Francis University wishing to join the organization. New members are welcome to join anytime throughout the year.
