Terri Kirby CLEP Test Administrator | What is CLEP? CLEP is a national program of credit by examination that allows you to obtain recognition for college-level achievement. Your personal reading, professional training, adult school, or distance learning courses may have prepared you to earn college credit. Wherever or however you have learned, you can take CLEP exams. If the results are acceptable to your college, you can receive credit. |
CLEP offers two types of tests: General Examinations and Subject Examinations. The General Examinations measure familiarity with material covered in courses taken during the first two years of college to meet general education or liberal arts requirements. They include: English Composition (with or without Essay), Humanities, College Mathematics, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences and History. The Subject Examinations measure knowledge usually acquired in specific college courses and are used to grant credit for or exception from these courses.
The SFU Testing Resource Library has the overall CLEP Study Guide, available on loan ot SFU students and staff only.
For more information on CLEP or study guides go to www.collegeboard.org/clep. There is a fee for each individual study guide.
