Red Flash Men’s Volleyball Defeats Springfield 3-1
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Junior Jordan Varee (Conneautville, Pa. / Conneaut Lake) exploded for 22 kills and a .400 hitting percentage to lead the Saint Francis men’s volleyball team to its first road win of the season, 3-1, at Springfield, on Saturday night.
The Red Flash improved to 7-4 on the season with a 30-17, 30-25, 28-30, 30-19 win over the Pride. Varee added four service aces, five digs and seven blocks. Junior Nick Rivett (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Fox Chapel) also added nine kills and 14 digs, senior setter Shane Conley (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny) dished out 45 assists to go with seven digs, and junior Pete Freyer (Orchard Park, N.Y. / Orchard Park) had six kills and no errors while hitting .545 to go with three blocks.
AJ Nally and Jeff Gutmann had 17 and 10 kills, respectively, for Springfield, which fell to 5-6 with its second loss on the season against SFU.
Saint Francis will return to the court with matches at IPFW, Loyola and Lewis next Friday through Sunday, respectively.
